Allen received his master's degree in jazz guitar performance from Northern Illinois University. He studied with modern guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque. Since then, Allen plays professionally in Phoenix as a guitarist and bassist and performs: Jazz, Funk, R&B, Classical, Flamenco, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Blues.
Allen provides student-driven lessons with students learning practical music skills. He focuses on fundamentals and teaching song repertoire. With each song comes an understanding of technique, rhythm, melody, and ear training. He supports a relaxed environment and challenges students with specific goals.
